Situation: The government has mandated the commemoration of certain groups and/or occurrences for all government Agencies called Special Emphasis Programs. These programs are commemorated monthly.

Problem: The Agency charged with designing these graphics would release them well past the start of the month. The Agency struggled to appropriately depict the cultures of the diverse social groups represented in the workforce and follow ADA compliance. In the past, the modernity of graphics created did not resonate with the workforce. This was a huge undertaking for most designers due to the sensitivity and tight timeframes.
Solution: I volunteered to independently develop the brand, look, and feel for the government-mandated Special Emphasis Programs for the entire year. These designs were developed through extensive research and peer group testing. The true challenge was developing imagery that was modern, inclusive and professional without being culturally offensive while copy editing and/or offering creative solutions to help customers make better decisions about the types of products they would request.
Result: These designs exist for three years, ultimately saving the Agency printing and distribution costs while easing the load of future designers.
